Over 25 Lakh Candidates Appeared
This year, CTET 2026 was conducted on 7 and 8 February due to a huge number of applicants. More than 25 lakh candidates registered for the exam. The surge in applications is linked to a recent Supreme Court ruling that made TET qualification mandatory for in-service teachers.
According to the order, teachers who have not cleared TET must pass it within two years to continue in service. Those nearing retirement (within five years) have partial relief, but TET is still mandatory for promotion purposes.
CTET Paper 1 and Paper 2 Eligibility
Candidates qualifying Paper 1 become eligible to apply for teaching posts from Class 1 to 5 (Primary Level). Those clearing Paper 2 can apply for Classes 6 to 8 (Upper Primary Level). CTET-qualified candidates can apply for recruitment in institutions like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and Army Public Schools across India.
With the answer key release expected anytime soon, candidates are advised to keep checking the official website regularly for the latest updates on CTET Answer Key 2026 and result declaration.
